REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing
.
1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected
.
3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
4. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
5. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for 3UR-FE)
6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for 2UZ-FE)
7. REMOVE COOLER REFRIGERANT LIQUID PIPE B
(a) Remove the bolt, and slide the hook connector.

(b) Disconnect the suction pipe and liquid pipe.
NOTICE:
-
Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to disconnect the pipe.
-
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.

(c) Remove the 2 O-rings from the suction pipe and liquid pipe.
8. REMOVE HEATER WATER INLET HOSE A
(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the water hose.
NOTICE:
-
Do not apply excessive force to the rear heater outlet water hose.
-
Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
9. REMOVE HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE A
(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the water hose.
NOTICE:
-
Do not apply excessive force to the rear heater inlet water hose.
-
Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
10. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the air duct.
68. REMOVE REAR NO. 4 AIR DUCT
(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the air duct.
69. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD INSERT
70. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY
71. SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
(a) Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and the steering column.
(b) Remove the bolt and separate the steering intermediate shaft from the steering column.
72. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column)
73. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column)
74. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 14 Speakers)
75. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 8 Speakers)
76. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
77. REMOVE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY
78. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT
(a) Disengage the 3 claws and remove the air duct.
79. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT
(a) Disengage the 3 claws and remove the air duct.
80. SEPARATE MAIN BODY ECU
(a) Disconnect the connectors and clamp.
(b) Remove the bolt and nut and separate the main body ECU.
81. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the nut and the turn signal flasher.
82. REMOVE NO. 1 ECU INTEGRATION BRACKET
(a) Disconnect the connectors and clamp.
(b) Remove the bolt and nut and the ECU integration bracket.
83. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the connectors and clamps and separate the wire harness.
(b) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
(c) Remove the instrument panel reinforcement.
(1) for Driver Side:
Remove the 2 caps and 3 bolts.
(2) for Passenger Side:
Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 "TORX" bolts.
HINT:
When removing the bolts, the collars may come off with the bolts.
(3) for Passenger Side:
Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 2 collars.
(4) Remove the 3 bolts, nut and instrument panel reinforcement.

(d) Disconnect the connector and clamp and separate the wire harness.

84. REMOVE FRONT AIR CONDITIONING UNIT
(a) Remove the 3 bolts, 2 screws and the air conditioning unit.
